Where are the LEDs used?

LEDs and their applicationHigh-power LEDs are used in practice in many fields, ranging from lighting residential, industrial, office premises to architectural and even street lighting.

It is noteworthy that over the past few years, the scope of LEDs has expanded significantly. And if earlier they were associated with indicators in electronic devices, now, where they just do not exist: road signs, traffic lights, indicators in the passenger compartment. In the automotive industry, you can’t do without them, they are actively being introduced into braking signals and parking lights.

This widespread use of LEDs is due to progress in the development of high-power diodes. It is worth noting that every year they are more confidently crowding out other, more familiar, but obsolete sources of home and street light (incandescent, halogen lamps, compact fluorescent tubes).

It is possible to enumerate all areas where they can be used for a very long time: lighting of workplaces at industrial and production enterprises, entrances and corridors in houses, counters and shop windows in shops and boutiques.

Those LEDs that are used as backlights are powerful, that is, in many respects (light output, reliability, color rendering index, light output) completely not inferior, and in some cases even superior to conventional light sources used in lighting devices.

Compared to lamps, their main advantages are: a nominal life of about 50,000 hours, as well as directional radiation. There is no mercury in LEDs, as in discharge or fluorescent bulbs, which at times facilitates the current disposal problem.

The time to reach the maximum value of the emitted light flux immediately after switching on is only a fraction of a second, and you can choose lighting of any shade, starting from a pleasant warm one (like an incandescent lamp) and ending with a white daylight and blue cold.

The use of LEDs as light sources makes it possible to significantly reduce all energy costs. That is why it is necessary to consider two main factors, where their advantages of using LED lamps are most significant: lack of maintenance and energy saving.

An example of the use of LEDs in luminaires for street, industrial and office lighting is Ledel LED luminaires. When using a new alternative type of lighting instead of old incandescent lamps, the savings are about 95%, and instead of fluorescent lamps - 50%.

In our country, from time to time, attempts are made to completely transfer the entire city or a certain building, district to semiconductor lighting. And this makes sense, since LED lamps are the most powerful and cost-effective light sources to date.

LEDs have targeted radiation, so you do not need to use different reflectors, thus avoiding losses that occur in simple lamp fixtures.
