Replacement of electrical wiring in the apartment during overhaul

Replacement of electrical wiring in the apartment during overhaulOverhaul in an apartment is a natural disaster that is familiar to many of our fellow citizens. What is included in the mandatory program of this event?

Removing furniture with partial rejection, removing the old floor covering and, possibly, the floor itself, peeling old wallpaper, dismantling old plumbing, interior doors ... And this is just the beginning. Next on the schedule is the replacement of the risers of heating, domestic hot water, cold water and sewage, work to align the walls, floor and ceiling, replacing doors and windows, installing new coatings for the same walls, floor and ceiling.

In general, plenty of work. And the older the apartment, the more problems you will have to face. But we did not mention one important point, which is most rational to coincide with the general overhaul of the apartment. It is about replacing the old worn electrical wiring.

But replacement of electrical wiring in the apartment during overhaul necessarily recommended for execution, especially if this same wiring has not been repaired since the house was built, and the house was built in the Soviet era. The need is dictated, for example, by the fact that at that time the preference was given to the simplest grounding system - TN-C. The TN-C system is characterized by the presence in the household network of only two conductors: the working phase and the working zero. A protective neutral conductor is not provided in this system, and this is contrary to modern electrical safety standards.

Of course, changing the grounding system in a single apartment is an almost impossible task. In his apartment network we can only lay an additional third wire without connecting it in the apartment panel until the common house engineering networks are brought into line with the current requirements of regulatory documents. But it still has to be done sometime. And overhaul is the most suitable moment for this.

Apartment after major repairsIn addition to the absence of a third wire in the line, the old wiring is minimalistic, both in terms of the cross-section of the conductors, and in terms of the number of outlets for each room. So in the panel "Khrushchev" ordinary phenomenon, you can recognize only one single socket for the entire kitchen, not counting the one that designed to connect the stove. At the same time, entering a wire with a cross-section of 2.5 squares is also not uncommon for old apartments. Moreover, copper in those ancient times was not yet used, and we are talking exclusively about aluminum.

And, in general, it must be recognized that for the level of electricity consumption of that time all this was more than enough. After all, even an electric kettle was then far from every apartment. And the power of the latter, even in the case of its presence, was not comparable with the power of modern quick-boiling specimens.

However, today in every apartment there are so many powerful household electrical appliances that the need to reconstruct old wiring and get rid of most extension cords and tees ripens with all the evidence.

And since during the overhaul in the apartment a fair amount of noise, dirt and garbage is supposed to be, it is at the preliminary stage, before engaging in interior decoration, you should think about replacing the wiring.

Of course, at the same time, the installation of cables is possible in the boxes, but with a major overhaul, it’s a sin not to take the opportunity to make a neat and consistent with all safety requirements covert wiring. Moreover, in this situation this will be the least time-consuming option. And this, of course, will reduce the total cost of replacing wiring.

Wall chasing under socketsSo, the most preferred option for replacing electrical wiring during overhaul is a hidden installation in the gate, under a layer of plaster, under the skin, in structures made of sheet materials, in the screed or just under the floorboards.

In the case of laying the cable in the gates, you can not use any pipes, but install the lines “as is” using plastic dowel clamps. At the same time, however, the formal requirement for wiring interchangeability is violated, but this requirement can actually be neglected in favor of labor productivity and lower cost of work.

The most effective, but also the most dusty strobing method at the same time - with the help of a grinder with a diamond disk. Holes for installing sockets and junction boxes perforator with a crown for concrete. There is nothing to do with the usual percussion drills here. We must not forget about the means of protection: a grinder is needed for a grinder, and a worker needs a respirator to protect his respiratory organs. Safety glasses will not be superfluous.

DimmersThose who have ever produced replacement of wiring in a panel house, Certainly were able to appreciate the fact that the concrete of the building panels is ditched very hard. But there is one pleasant moment: in the manufacture of these same panels, ready-made grooves and holes for engineering communications were provided. Of course, they are not always located exactly where necessary, but still they must be borne in mind. Moreover, bearing walls and ceilings cannot be gated out categorically.

The option of installing cables on the floor or in building structures is considered when it is simply impossible in a different way. For example, when the apartment is in a wooden house.

Plasterboard suspended ceilingIt also often happens that some part of the wiring may be hidden in drywall constructions. This is possible, for example, when installing recessed spotlights. Then the wiring is carried out in pipes (in case the wall material is non-combustible, then the pipe can be made of PVC, including corrugated). Pipes are attached to the surfaces of walls or ceilings using brackets or clips.

Finally, we list the main advantages of replacing wiring in a panel, wooden or any other house during the overhaul:

1. You can bring the wiring in maximum compliance with modern safety requirements,

2. You will be able to make all the wiring in the apartment exactly "for yourself." Each socket, lamp, switch and even a panel of apartments will be located exactly where it will be convenient and safe for you. The number of outlets and fixtures will also meet your needs - no tees or extension cords will be needed.

3. And the main thing is that all this will cost you "little blood." After all, you still have to peel off the wallpaper during a major overhaul. You will also be forced to leave your home during the repair. Dirt, noise and other repair troubles are also inevitable. So why not at the same time complete the wiring replacement, taking advantage of this situation and saving on many costs.

I liked the article. Everything is written correctly. I just want to add that it is best to entrust professional electricians with the replacement of electrical wiring during overhaul, but everyone should understand the process and technology, at least for proper repair planning and competent hiring of workers. And yet, if a real overhaul is made, then in no case can you save on electrical wiring, as in the end everything will cost many times more. Be sure to repair, especially if the repair is in Khrushchev, it is necessary to replace all the old wiring with a new one.You can’t leave everything as it is. Overhaul is not only finishing, as many people think. Repairing all utility networks is always more important than finishing!

thanks a lot of valuable. convinced to change and enter the apartment. Question. Which input cable is better to put and what section? 2 rooms standard equipment set (washing machine, microwave, computer, printer, TV, refrigerator, air conditioning)

Vladimir: In the absence of an electric stove - 4 squares, in the presence of - 6 squares. In any case, a three-core copper cable VVGNG or NYM.

If the requested electrician suggests installation with a stranded wire, then immediately drive him and look for another.

And what about the inhabitants of new houses ("candles") then, now there all the apartments are angled and, accordingly, the 2-3 walls are load-bearing, which cannot be ditched. Is it possible to connect consumers with an extension cord and pull across the room ??? What "wise men" design such houses in which nothing is impossible ???

Serege: in the new houses "candles" there are two options for wiring:
    1. If you plan to make a suspended ceiling, then you can put the wiring on the ceiling in a plastic corrugation or pipe and make vertical strobes to a future outlet at a socket height of 110 cm from the floor - the most acceptable option.
    2. If you plan to change the floor screed, then you can make the floor wiring in plastic pipes and also break through the vertical strobes. ATTENTION!!!!!!! heating pipes can also go under the screed, so be careful.

SergeiWhat is wrong with a stranded wire? If you solder the tip for installation, the connection with the point goes hard or I don’t understand why it is at all. Are there any clear arguments?

Sasha, Sasha, I also don’t understand why “to drive an electrician who will propose laying wiring with a flexible wire”? I think that when replacing the wiring, preference is given to stranded wire, since it is cheaper than stranded wire. My personal opinion is that flexible wire is more practical for wiring. Firstly, it’s easier to mount, as it bends easily. When replacing (reconnecting) the wiring line, you do not need to be afraid that the wire will break. Also, there is no need to make a large supply.

In addition to soldering, you can use various lugs: ring and male (for screw connection), pin (for example, for connecting protective devices in the switchboard, terminal blocks, as well as in most types of sockets). When using lugs, wiring is much faster and with less labor.

The wiring, mounted with a flexible wire, is in no way inferior to the reliability of the wiring laid by a single-core wire.
